My choice is: c Yes! This is one of the things that I've missed most from using MacAIM... a good way for the client to visually indicate to me that I have a new message waiting. I'm not sure what you are planning, but a blinking note card icon layered onto the gaim buddy on the docklet would be good. The window should be shown any time when there is a IM tab with a red label (unread message). I think that this should be the standard behaviour. Currently, the "notification area" icon doesn't notify me of much at all. The only reason I use it is that it exposes the "Auto-Login" feature which I cannot find anywhere else in gaim. If people do not like the blinking or whatnot, they should just turn disable the notification icon for gaim. They lose nearly zero functionality by not having the icon be displayed. I will say that the icon is an easy way to show the buddy list, but selecting the list from the windows menu or from the window buttons on the panel is just as easy as using the notification icon. Yes, when clicking on the gaim icon, it should present a window with an unread message. This is far far more useful than showing the buddy list. -Nathan On Thu, Oct 13, 2005 at 06:45:57PM -0500, Casey Harkins wrote: > This discussion started in #gaim, but I wanted to give others a chance > to voice their opinions, since I'm still not sure what to do. > > I'm working on the docklet and added the ability for the docklet icon to > blink when any conversation has an unseen message.
