Sort of like bug 1941276, only with some detail....

WinXP Pro
Pidgin 2.3.1
Perl 5.8.whatever (NOT 5.10)

When first installed, the plugin seems to show the present track, then never updates.
My status messages created to use the plugin will do one of two things:
- blank themselves where the %s used to be (other "pre" text maintained)
- put in the text from the track being played (other "pre" text maintained; never changes to another track since %s is gone)

Further, on exit, when the plugin is enabled I get:
---------------------------
Pidgin: pidgin.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x672d24a0" referenced memory at "0x01f243f8". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
---------------------------

Highly repeatable.

I have refrained from upgrading to Pidgin 2.4.1 as I am not fond of the changes, and I further doubt that this plugin would work any better in a _newer_ version of Pidgin.

What I cantell is that the plugin updates the status correctly here - as well when replacing the string the first time as ever after. However, you are right that Pidgin crashes on exit - and it does on Linux as well.

I'm sorry I did not notice this behaviour - I am investigating :)

As we are not resetting placeholders on exit anymore, Pidgin does not crash anymore.

It seems that there is something wrong with Pidgin unloading plugins, like Perl is unloaded while there is still something going on in the Perl plugin.

Never mind, this is old now :)
