No

The plugin only shows the previous track, never the track that is currently playing.

As the song info is extracted via HTTP from Audiscrobbler, I think that there is some latency between scrobbling and the regeneration of the web service data.

Don't know how much we can do about that ...

Another point is that at least the Last.FM player does not scrobble before 50% of the track!

    #audioscrobbler @ irc.phasenet.co.uk:

    (10:36:15) Natureshadow: Hi there :)
    (10:36:42) Natureshadow: Could anyone give me a hint how to receive the "now playing" information for a user from Audioscrobbler?
    (11:06:30) F1n4rf1n: Natureshadow it's displayed at the top of the user's page
    (11:06:49) F1n4rf1n: I doubt there's another usage for it (yet?)
    (11:07:32) Muzzz: There is no webservice for that, yet
    (11:07:36) Muzzz: Only recent tracks
    (11:07:43) Muzzz: Unless you want to scrape the user pages
    (11:19:16) PiRANiA: you might be able to do it in PHP
    (11:19:31) PiRANiA: fetch the profile page and use regext
    (11:19:36) PiRANiA: regexp*
    (11:19:41) Natureshadow: PiRANiA: Then I can also do it in Perl
    (11:19:51) PiRANiA: you probably can

    So, there is no "easy" way of finding out which track is currently playing. I am thinking about the workaround mentioned by PiRANiA ...

    that sounds good...

    <tr class="nowListening">
    <td class="subject">
    <a href="/music/AC%252FDC">AC/DC</a> – <a href="/music/AC%252FDC/_/Hells+Bells+%28Album+Version%29">Hells Bells (Album Version)</a>

    </td>

    <td class="date">
    läuft gerade
    </td>
    </tr>

    These lines are interesting ;)

    They are, indeed. However, the problem still is that downloading the whole profile page would produce a lot of overhead. And then, a scrobbler is never forced to set the "currently playing" information - this is optional ...
