Protocol: AIM (untested for others)
Version of plugin: 3.0 on Windows (installed with installer)
When a conversation window (self-initiated or opened by other user) with a user is opened, Pidgin crashes and exits. The error only occurs when:
1) Logging of all IMs is enabled (<pref name='log_ims' type='bool' value='1'/> under logging section in prefs.xml), AND
2) Logging of conversations with the pidgin-encryption user are DISABLED (<setting name='enable-logging' type='bool'>0</setting> for the contact in blist.xml)
This happens regardless of whether or not the other user has the plugin installed. I like having all convos logged, except obviously the ones which are encrypted (if they're stored locally, what's the point in encryption?) A temporary workaround is to leave logging enabled, but delete the user's log directory and create an empty file with the same name in the log directory. When the conversation starts, the window says "Logging of this conversation failed." but everything functions normally otherwise.
