And one more thing - than you read dump file - don't exit on error!!!! For example: 1. Your save your dump file with drop tables 2. You read your dump on empty database 3. You have to comment - or delete each line whith drop * to do it normally. I offer you on error - just show warning, but do not stop dump reading Good luck ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Dan Wilson (killroyboy) Date: 2002-06-27 10:56 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=341906 The issue with the start_value of the sequence is handled correctly. If you look at the next line in the dump, it selects the nextval automatically. This is the old way of doing the dumps in pg_dump, but it still works. Concerning the exiting on error... we do this because often, if something at the beginning of the dump file doesn't work, then it breaks additional things in the file. Thus, if your dump file is bad, you must fix it completely before importing the entire thing. This is usually not a big issue because you can simply dump the database or table that you are importing. On occasion, there are other dumps that are imported, but they are not the normal dump and so we have coded for the common behavior. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=418980&aid=532936&group_id=37132 |
