It would be nice to be able to edit fields in place
using Ajax instead o being redirected to another page.

It may also degrade easily for user with javascript
disabled.

    I like this idea.

Yes PLEASE! There are several competing applications
(SQLyog) that I prefer over a web-based client because they
    are faster.

Page refreshes are so Web 1.0! phpMyAdmin needs to evolve!

There are already some AJAX PHP/MySQL web projects going
    such as TurboDbAdmin.

I would much rather have a web application that performed
like an application! Then it would be completely portable!

It doesn't need to be anything fancy at first. Maybe as simple as a quick replace of the table fields with textboxes and an ajax submit button when you click the edit button for those who have javascript enabled, and a similar thing for adding a new row.

There isn't any sense in going crazy like TurboDb[...], but it seems rather dumb to waste so much time for simple edits and additions when it is very simple to make it very simple.

Even if it never makes it officially into the project it would be nice to have an unofficial official patch.

Implemented in Git by one of GSoC projects.
