in the page server_variables.php you should add the descriptions for each variable, and a link to this page;
and variables, that are performance-critical should be shown in red

I checked the mysql reference manual. I do not find all the description in a single file and also its id(for variable link) is unpredictable. So, I suggest to make a table where we would store the variable along with its description link.
But I could not figure it out about performance critical variables.
I would like to work in it and I really need a mentor, to work with the community.
sorry I missed something in my last comment.
I wanted to mean that reference to all the sever variable are not listed in a single page @mysql reference. So, those link cannot be generated by any mathematical equations. So I hope its best to make copy of the link in our own database. But than it might not be good practice in case mysql website moves their pages.
This requested feature was implemented in the repository and will be part of a future release; thanks for suggesting.
