Configuration value $cfg['MaxExactCountViews'] is set to 100000 by default (from ID: 3093145). For big VIEWs it causes high server load during loading database (database must build big query, use tmp etc.) and probably server fall down (if I don't kill queries). Of course, I've set it to zero but for new users (or who is upgrading from 3.4 like us) it could be misleading. I suggest to put the value to zero again and solve 3093145 differently. It's this commit: https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/commit/fc928ad7b6bf491b83713dfc8979cfeebf0dbd7f

I am using 3.5.3, still having this problem. Which future release will fix this problem? thanks!

The summary had been prefixed with "(ok 4.0)", so the fix is in version 4.0, the development version.
