I am running svn version to 634 (updated last night) and I have discovered this morning that search results show the details of living people. These details are hidden as normal on the normal individual display page. I am not talking about special cases. This is occuring on all living people. my gedcom is configured to not show the details of living people.

This is as far as I am concerend quite a serious issue and I have taken my site down. I will not put the site back up until this is fixed or you can advise a SVN version number that I can revert to.

I am unsure how long this has been like this and may relate to previous versions

I have my site set to not show even the names of living people, and it works as expected. Have you tried to set up your site this way instead of bringing your site down?

My site running SVN 634 works as expected. Living people and their details are only shown to authenticated users.

I thought mine was working OK as well, but I did more testing. I found that using the search box in the header section does show birth dates for living people. Presumably this uses a different algorithm to the general or soundex search functions?
I havnt noticed it before, so can't say which SVN update caused it.

It looks like search.php and search_ctrl.php were last changed at SVN 616 22/11/2006 so presumably something then has caused the problem?

As stated, "it works for me", both using the Search field at the top of each page and also using the Search menu at the top of each page.

I suggest that you replace ALL of your existing PGV 4.1 installation, and test again.

As usual, you delete everything in the server's PGV install directory except:
    file config.php
    directory "index"
    directory "media"

and then copy the latest SVN files and directories up to the server, except for the above file and directories.

Note: SVN 635 has changed the handling of the "modules" directory. Previously, if you didn't want to use any modules, you still had to have an empty "modules" directory. Now, that's no longer the case. You don't need an empty "modules" directory when you don't want to use any modules.

Hang on Gerry - thats a lot of downloading / uploading. I think we need more testing first.

I have 4 gedcoms on my system. I find that if I search (using any search field) for a living person with only one gedcom selected it works fine. If I select more than one, then it will display living people.

Could you try that for yourself?

v636 exposes living persons' dob and other personal information from the Search in the header. clicking a link (INDI) causes a PRIVATE warning.

Steve - its not just the header search. I tested it on your site, and its the same as mine.
If you use the general search from the menu, and select more than one gedcom to search in, privacy is broken. If you only search on one gedcom, privacy is retained.

    Problem confirmed on my site.

When there is more than 1 GEDCOM, and you include more than 1 GEDCOM in the search, Privacy is not respected. The method by which you launch the search (field at top of page, or Search link in menu section of each page header) doesn't matter.

When there is only 1 GEDCOM, there doesn't appear to be a problem.

I have now after a process of testing elimination traced this to the addition of the JS table view on the search result form. This happened on revision 480.
