pgn4web is a javascript chess games viewer for websites, blogs and live broadcasts.

"pgn4web has a clean design, and is easily integrated and configured in wordpress. And yet, below that layer of simplicity, it has enough bells and whistles to allow for more baroque needs and taste. A truly great plugin." GM Tiger Hillarp, using the pgn4web plugin for wordpress on his site chess at the bag of cats, May 2013.

"We wanted a live viewer that could work on tablets and mobile phones. pgn4web did fit very well on every platform, is stable and matched our visual design. Also the horizontal view for the commentators and the vertical view for smartphones was a real plus." H.S. from the Max Euwe memorial tournament committee, using pgn4web for live broadcast and game reports, November 2011.

User Reviews

  • How will we be delayed games? not a refresh delay
  • Excellent work! I've been using pgn4web for years. It is now included in an TYPO3 extension I've written that displays tournamen results (of swisschess) and lets players replay their games - and they really like pgn4web. It has a lot of useful and nice features (analysis board, autoplay, figurine font, different board sizes, runs on a lot of browsers and/or operating systems). Paulo was always very helpful whenever I had questions and he was still very patient when I was writing my own extensions to pgn4web. As you can see pgn4web already has lots of references (check out his homepage). Pros: (1) Ease of use (2) lots of working examples (show cases on the web page and also part of the downloaded zip file) (3) embedded chess engine (analysis board) (4) different board sizes (5) fast and runs on lots of browsers and platforms (6) Overwriting custom functions allows writing of own extensions (7) Brilliant support (friendly, helpful). A few cons: (1) Displaying more than one board per page needs iframea (2) Change of language has to be done manually by editing text strings in js file (3) Board can't be rotated
  • Hello to all I would add pgn4web bbcodes in my forum Can you help me please?
  • PGN4WEB has been an indispensable part of my chess work for the last year. It is heavily integrated into the backbone of my website at Campfire Chess.com. The support for the project and constant series of updates also adds to my confidence in utilizing the project for longterm service applications.
