The pfs format is uses single precision floating point, so it is inefficient to convert it to double precision when reading / writing in matlab. This patch modifies the pfs_read functions to output images of type single. pfs_write is also modified to handle either single or double precision floating point. Tested most functions and all seems to work well on 64-bit linux using matlab r2007b.
