Hello, Is it possible to get hold of nightly builds of Win32::GUI from CVS? I don't have VC++6 and am having all sorts of problems building it with VC++7 (and given the warnings in the README, wasn't that confident of it working anyway!). I would build it/use it with Cygwin, but I'm unable to compile Win32::GUI::DIBitmap for Cygwin. The project I'm working on requires both Win32::GUI::DIBitmap, as well as the bugfix for -background, which I understand is available in CVS. Please help! Thanks, Ant. ___________________________________________________________ To help you stay safe and secure online, we've developed the all new Yahoo! Security Centre. http://uk.security.yahoo.com |

Its a simple process to build with Mingw, just load down the components and away you go. Hope that is of some help. Cheers, jez. |

Ah, ok, will give that a try. Thanks. This is probably a stupid question, but it wasn't obvious (at least to me) from the Readme... I presume I can't use a Cygwin build of the src with ActiveState Perl, nor a VC6++ build with Cygwin Perl - is that correct? Mingw builds can be used with ActiveState, but not Cygwin? Or are all builds interchangeable? Sorry - new to all this! Or are all builds interchangeable? To be honest I dont know anything about Cygwin:) You can use a Mingw built Win32-GUI with ActiveState perl. Cheers, jez. |

Not currently, but it is on my (ever extending) list of things to think about. > I don't have VC++6 and am having all sorts of problems > building it with > VC++7 (and given the warnings in the README, wasn't > that confident of it > working anyway!). I'd be interested in hearing a bit more about your experience of trying to build with VC++7 - I've successfully built with the freely downloadable version (although you have to jump through some hoops), and haven't had any problems related to the different versions of msvcrt.dll (although I can't claim to have done any extensive testing). > I would build it/use it with Cygwin, but I'm unable to > compile Win32::GUI::DIBitmap for Cygwin. Sorry, can't help there. As Jez suggests, the build with mingw and Extutils::FakeConfig is relatively straightforward, once you've determined which mingw packages you need - just ensure you install mingw before Extutils::FakeConfig, and install Extutils::FakeConfig from source rather than from the activestate ppm, so that the install builds the perl link libraries that will be needed. Let us know if you need any further help - and failing everything I hope to get around to a new release in the next couple of weeks. Regards, Rob. |
