As libraries (and software itself) is becoming obsolete, I've uploaded an old Knoppix Live DVD with a completely operational penacho copy. Feel free to burn and boot, or virtualize in VirtualBox, e.g.
Please, send some feedback if this software is useful for you.
Finally Spanish documentation about penacho is released at SourceForge.
It's a complete PDF report (>100 pages) written in LaTeX. It includes physic modeling, resolution algorithm, program users' manual and programmers' manual.
LaTeX mathematical equations and symbols match exactly those on the source code. A table references every equation label (as eq:Wx) with its equation number and page at document.... read more
Penacho now has its web site:
it's a link to http://qtpenacho.googlepages.com
Most important is the Screenshots page: lots of pictures of user interface and simulation plots. Every image is commented, so it's a great place to know about what Penacho can do and how: kind data requested to the user, solver and plot options, atmospheric modeling variables, plume graphs, data exportation, pollutant distribution graphs (both grid-planes and iso-surfaces), and some parametric analysis comparison pictures.... read more
Penacho is a simulation software that calculates and draws the gas dispersion of a smokestack in the atmosphere.
The user can input the problem data in a structured graphical interface: fluid characteristics at the chimney output, air and surface conditions, atmospheric stability and yearly wind conditions. It's a huge amount of data, but Penacho starts with a typical problem parameters. The UI uses the Qt libraries.... read more
