Attached is a service file for systemd, tested for months by the Arch Linux guinea pigs ;-)
Compatibility with other distributions should not be an issue, apart from the assumed configure options:
- --prefix=/usr and--sysconfdir=/etc for launch checks,
- --with-piddir=/run for general operation,
- --datarootdir=/usr/share is used to allow access to the README.blocklists as a documentation supplement.
Packagers can adapt the paths to match the various peculiarities.

It should be installed to "/usr/lib/systemd/system/" as "pgl.service".
Launch instructions are simple:
# systemctl start pgl.service starts the program for the session.
# systemctl enable pgl.service insures it will be up and running on every boot.
