It seems to be related to list allocation

size: 3501k perldl> for $i(0..1e4){$a=pdl(5)}
size: 3501k perldl> for $i(0..1e4){$a=pdl(0..9)}
size: 3747k perldl> for $i(0..1e4){$a=pdl(0..99)}
size: 3992k

It seems to be leaking 245 bytes per list element that's piddlified,
regardless of the number of piddles created.
