    Hey folks:

    I have an Audiovox RTM-8000 GPRS modem which runs just fine with my Zaurus C-3000. However, it wasn't
    recognized in my Averatec Laptop running 2.6.10.

    After some fiddeling, I found out, that the card asks for two windows, but serial_cs.c is unable to assign the second window (in multi_config). So - I took a shortcut and forced serial_cs.c to just assign the first port (forcing the driver to use 'simple_config' even though (info->multi > 1).

    This is what I get now:

    kernel: ttyS4: detected caps 00000700 should be 00000100Feb 17 14:42:43 dhcp221 kernel: ttyS4 at I/O 0xaf8 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
    Feb 17 14:42:43 dhcp221 cardmgr[30849]: executing: './serial start ttyS4'
    Feb 17 14:42:44 dhcp221 cardmgr[30849]: + Default modem setup
    Feb 17 14:42:44 dhcp221 cardmgr[30849]: + setserial /dev/ttyS4 uart 16550A

    Since it is (falsely) recognized as a 16C950, one has to issue a cardctl reset in order to get it working.

    BUt that's just half the rent. I am unable to connect the modem to t-mobile GPRS - this is weird since it works flawlessly on my Zaurus.

    Connect on the Zaurus:

    Serial connection established.
    using channel 1
    Using interface ppp0
    Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS3

    Modem hangup
    Connection terminated.

    I tried the same configuration I have on the Zaurus, googled my fingers bloody to find different configuration profiles - I just don't get it.

    Maybe a helpful soul is able to explain to me, why the heck it aint working.

    Is it possible that not configuring the second 'port' on the card leads to a different behaviour?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Well, not configuring the second "port" evidently does screw things up.  Can you show the output of "dump_cis"?

      Dave: Thanks for your answer. I was finally able to fix the issue. I had to assign different ports (via dump_cis / pack_cis) and the card was recognized right-away. Howerever, while the card works great with setserial urat 6550a on a linux 2.4.20, it did not work on 2.6.10. It answered minicom (AT OK .. etc), it was even able to dial in to the provider, but than the LCP negotiations failed.

      I had to configure the card as a 16750 via setserial.

      I am a little bit confused, but happy.

      Thanks again for your answer.
