No

I have SuSE 9.3 running on two different Laptops: On
the ThinkPad A30, everything works fine, including the
a.m. card (prism-chipset)
On the Thinkpad 770, the pcmcia-subsystem works
(network card 3com 589 ethernet) works fine, but the
Netgear card is not even detected:
cardctl status
Socket 0:
3,3V CardBus card -> OK so far!

cardctl ident -> no product info

On the same laptop, the Netgear works fine under W98 :-|

The card was detected (according to cardctl status). The
"no product info" is not an error. I think you will get
that same result on both systems? You'll have to see what
messages you get in your system log and/or 'dmesg' after
    card insertion.

SuSE 9.3 is a 2.6 kernel, right? For the kernel PCMCIA
subsystem, you should report problems here:

    http://lists.infradead.org/mailman/listinfo/linux-pcmcia

They'll probably ask you to upgrade to the latest 2.6
kernel. The 2.6 kernel PCMCIA subsystem has changed a lot
but seems to be stabilizing now.

    Dave,
thanks for your reply. Actually I noticed the same problem
    on a SuSE 10 installation (Kernel 2.6.13-15.7-default), I
feel it has to do with the Notebook's hardware somehow.....
