When a symlink is selected, the status bar could show something like
"symlink --> /usr/bin/target (55MB)"
or
"symlink --> (broken)"
(for a dangling symlink)

  • This approach has two problems:
    a) size is not always available - it's meaningless for directories or special files for example;
    b) if the symlink target is shown your way then no file type will be displayed (just no place is left to show it, status bar has limited space).

  • Yes, I'm aware this request is more than 3 years old and you were created own file manager clone since then. But anyway I'm going to make all good features into pcmanfm (which is very stable for a while) as long those features don't conflict with lightweight position.
