#747 PCManFM Search: focusing the FIND button in Context tab

libfm (281)

PCManFM Search: Case Sensitive is not working properly when searching Content (i.e. text search)

When the Case Sensitive option is checked in Content Tab, is searches without case sensitiveness. It does the opposite when unchecked.
It is exactly the opposite of what should happen.

This might be caused by the fact that Case Sentitive is checked by default under the Name/Location Tab. Even if unchecked under the Content Tab when doing a Content Search, the default under Name/Location is applied to Content Searches. If you check the Case Sensitive option under Content Tab, it cancels out the first one and a NON-Case-Sensitive search is done.

  • Thank you very much for the report. For me it seems that context search barely works at all. It needs more testing then.

It has actually worked fairly well for me. I really like the feature as I do text searches frequently.

I think that the solution is to remove the default Case Sensitive selection under the Name/Location Tab as it seems to apply to all tabs across the board. If the option is unchecked under that tab, it might resolve the problem.

Also, having the FIND button focused under the Content Tab so that pressing ENTER starts the search would be a welcome improvement.

    Good Work!

  • Wait. Where is that option 'Case Sensitive'? There is an option 'Case insensitive' there and it works as expected - when unchecked searches exact match, when checked searches ignoring case. And also there isn't a 'Case Sensitive' option in Name/Location tab, only 'Case insensitive' one. You've misread them probably, I'm sorry. :)

  • Pierre

I guess it has been a long day!

You are right... I assumed the option was Case Sensitive... that is why it did not work. You can cancel the bug as things presumably are working properly.

Please keep the suggestion of focusing by default the FIND button in Content Searches

  • Thank you for the suggestion, I change the Summary of this request then. I hope that will be fixed in next feature release.

  • This issue should be handled in 1.2.0-beta0 version of libfm. Test it, please, when it's possible for you. Note that you should recompile pcmanfm as well to use new version of libfm.
    Thank you very much.
