Category: Classes List File Incorrect Information Group: For 6.0 Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 3 Private: No Submitted By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Assigned to: Michael Gray (mhgj) Summary: [RSRD] Psi Expanded Knowledge feat not functioning correctly Initial Comment: Moved from PCGenDM: Tracker [1074855] originally submitted by chriton227 Date Submitted: 2004-11-28 22:51 <https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php? func=detail&aid=1074855&group_id=36698&atid=417816 > The Expanded Knowledge feat should allow the user to select a power from any psionic class list up to (maximum power level -1). The feat is currently only allowing to add a known power slot, and only to level 1. Example: Create a Psion, raise to level 6, populate powers known. Add the Expanded Knowledge feat, it should allow the user to add any one psionic power from any class list of up to level 2. Instead, it only allows a choice of Psion 1 which adds a single 1st level power known for the psion list. Then add the selected spell to the list of those known of the character. Any time that ability has been mentioned we have been referred to the spell system rewrite post-58. Given that, there probably is not a specific code tracker. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2005-05-03 19:46 Sender: eddyanthony Logged In: YES user_id=886893 I don't think there is but it's hard to make one when we don't know what to ask for. What is needed is a spell chooser, not only for this but for a class ability of the Arch Mage and probably others. I posted some on this at experimental months ago and it's on my list of code requests for this next cycle so don't feel it will be forgotten. I'll be posting more on this and other feature requests once 5.8 is out. What I'd like to do is to get discussion going and get a concensus on how any one particular issue should be handled and then create detailed trackers for them, since we have a tracker here I think that is enough to keep the issue current. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: 2005-05-03 19:17 Sender: kingpaul Logged In: YES user_id=277877 Is there an existing code tracker associated with this issue? If so, I can't find it. If there isn't, one needs to be created. Paul W. This was noted as a existing problem when RSRD was submitted to be added to distribution. There is no way currently to allow selection from a list of all available powers (spells). I'll look at the power level issue though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Michael Gray (mhgj) Date: 2007-12-19 16:25 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=291656 Originator: NO This could be temporarily supported without a spell chooser by using CHOOSE:USERINPUT. changing it to: Expanded Knowledge TYPE:Psionic PRECLASS:1,SPELLCASTER.Psionic=3 PRETEMPLATE:Psionic DESC:See Text STACK:NO MULT:YES CHOOSE:USERINPUT|1|TITLE="Power Name and Level" SOURCEPAGE:PsionicFeats.rtf would allow the user to input the name and level and note it on the OS. Not a perfect solution and definitely not THE solution but it would allow an actual input and print, which is more than it's got now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Frank Kliewe (frank_kliewe) Date: 2006-08-29 19:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1241568 This will need further enhancements of the Spell Chooser. Discussion of a greater scope of changes to the Spells system currently take place in the discussion covered by this Development Spec: [ 1547378 ] Spells LST tag additions http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php? func=detail&aid=1547378&group_id=25576&atid=837763 -- Frank ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-08-23 04:47 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Michael, can you throw up how you are using the CHOOSE:SPELLS up on the Y! boards, might help resolve this one - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Gray (mhgj) Date: 2006-04-01 13:07 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=291656 I can create multi feats which give the known slot but I still cannot get the power choice. I tried using CHOOSE:SPELLS but I am getting no output. Either I'm using it wrong or it is broken. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-23 09:58 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 OK, I'll take this back off the roadmap, we'll need to find an existing code freq that will complete this for you (or enter a new one) - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Gray (mhgj) Date: 2006-03-23 09:06 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=291656 Even with that bug fixed I'm not sure this'll be done for 5.10. You still need a spell chooser to get this 100%. The CHOOSE:SPELLLEVEL writeup is a work around that only works 50% Without a spell chooser that returns spell (power) name and spell list level (what level the power/spell is), Expanded Knowledge will not work as written in the SRD. After that either: 1. SPELLLIST:CLASS needs to accept %LIST inserts to assign the power to it's new class. or 2. SPELLS nees to allow you to enter the 'level' of the power. SPELLS doesn't accept spell levels (that I'm aware of, I could be unaware of this usage but it's not in the docs). My Yahoo IM is my yahoo name, TaluronIscandar. I think. Or maybe just Taluron. Haven't used it in awhile. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-23 08:49 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Cool, that's assigned to James and is due for 5.10 Release, so I'll add this data bug back ot the Roadmap :-), BTW have you got a IM handle of some sort? - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Gray (mhgj) Date: 2006-03-23 08:40 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=291656 Thanks 1451674 error in CHOOSE:SPELLLEVEL Should be a bug. It is doing what it's supposed to just not correctly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-23 08:30 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Hi Michael, have assigned back to you, do you know what tracker number Paul made for this or whether it is a FREQ or a bug? - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Michael Gray (mhgj) Date: 2006-03-23 08:02 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=291656 SPELLS does not support class spell list level assignment. Expanded Knowledge assigns the power to a specific class list and level. SPELLS might could be used as a work around to list the powers on the output sheet but not 100% correctly. BTW, I had assigned this to me as I was working on it. Expanded Knowledge currently doesn't allow for proper selection of the class level and I am in the process of spliting it into multiple feats, one for each power level, as a work around. The CHOOSE is inflating everything past the first choice. Paul has clready created a code tracker for this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Martijn Verburg (karianna) Date: 2006-03-23 05:13 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=252169 Eddy, is this doable now that the Spells work is done? - K ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=750091&aid=1340159&group_id=25576 |
