I'm using Password Safe from svn on Fedora 18 64 bit.

I had some troubles with a garbled database. It was not really corrupt as I could still open it but many entries were damaged.

There seems to be a problem with long password entries.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create a new database with master password "a"
  • Add an entry:
    • Name: "a"
    • Username: "a"
    • Password:"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz"
    • Notes: "a"
  • Add another entry:
    • Name: "b"
    • Username: "b"
    • Password:"abcdefg"
    • Notes: "b"
  • Save database and exit
  • Start Password Safe and look at the password for the entry with the name "a"

I have attached the file I get when I do these steps.

I see an additional character at the end of the password. It's a place holder for some character not implemented in the font I'm using.

Probably this results in damaging other entries when it happens in a database with more entries.

Is that from the HEAD of the trunk? By any chance, did you also try on 32-bit?

Yes this is from trunk:HEAD (rev 5236).
      I did not test 32-bit.

BTW: I just noticed that I apparently did not file a bug as I intended but a Support-Request. Can I transform this into a bugreport or should I file a new bugreport instead of this report?

Is this with the HEAD of the svn trunk, or some particular svn revision? Have you tried this on 16-bit by any chance?

    Saurav.

Please file a bug report. Its easier for me to track it that way.

    Thanks,
    Saurav.
