Can you add a new field to an entry so that it can be assigned a keyboard shortcut. Since numeric keys are not usually used for normal shortcuts to menu items/functions, I suggest that these could be used (see below re: ensuring there are no conflicts and global vs database values).
For example, a user could assign Ctrl+1 to an entry. If this keyboard shortcut is pressed, that entry is automatically selected. This saves the user doing a Find to get to it or expanding the tree to get to the specific entry.
Obviously, details of these shortcuts would need to be retained after opening a database to ensure that a particular value is not used more than once. Similarly, checks need to be made to ensure an entry keyboard shortcut does not conflict with a menu item/function keyboard shortcut. This is more difficult since the menu item/function shortcut is 'global' whereas an entry shortcut would be database specific. A solution would be that numeric values are reserved for entries as this gives potentially 60 possible entries which should be enough (calculated from 10 each (0-9) for Ctrl, Ctrl + Shift, Alt, Alt + Shift, Crtl + Alt and Ctrl + Alt + Shift).
