V3.09, if set to startup with windows, after pc boots up, when I try to unlock it, password safe freezes up.
OS: Windows XP Pro SP2

I'm afraid I need some more info on this: Can PasswordSafe open the same database when NOT starting up with windows?
Logged In: NO
Yes it does. Thats what I do now. After password safe freezes, I kill it and open password safe again with default database without any issues.
Strange. Can't duplicate this, haven't heard any other reports of this problem.
Is the database file on a network drive?
At what stage does pwsafe "freeze up"? Do you get the "enter passphrase" dialog box when double-clicking on the system tray?
Thankyou for the follow up. If not reproducible, then please dont look further into it. Just reported assuming its happening to everyone.
Database file is on the pc itself. When I double click after startup, all I see is the frame and no content. Definitely no "enter passphrase" dialog box.
Ah, thanks for the details.
I think I fixed this already, and would appreciate it if you could verify this on a pre-release version of 3.10, which can be downloaded from:
Sorry for the delay in getting back. I have installed v3.10 (released version) and the same thing happening. I have realised that its not freezing but default database open dialog doesnot pop up. It does pop up when I manually open password safe.
Hope this clue sheds some light on the bug (if at all). Many thanks.
I know this is an old post, but I am seeing a similar problem.
I am running PasswordSafe V3.34.01 on Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1.
Intermittently, I go to unlock the safe, so I click Restore on the icon in the Notification Area. I am prompted for and enter the password. Password Safe displays its window, menu items (File, Edit, View, Manage, Help), but not the tool bars or safe contents. Title bar has 'Not Responding'. CPU goes to 25% which I take to mean CPU bound on one thread on my 4 CPU machine) and stays that way indefinitely. I can kill it using the Red-X or via Task Manager. Upon restarting, sometimes it is OK, other times when I open the safe, enter password it becomes CPU bound again. I don't believe it is the password file itself as PasswordSafe usually works on this file and can fail on other files. My safe file is 142KB in size usually unlocks immediately.
