Problem -- 2.14 reads in 2.04 databases as mostly
gibberish.

Took suggestion from an earlier posting and created a
dummy database in 2.04 and saved it. File is attached
as Test204-214.dat (password Abcd1234).

2.04 reads it OK, but 2.14 does not.

Also tried the workarounds. The only success was with

3, exporting to plain text in 2.04, then importing in

2.14. However, I am reluctant to use this method with
my real database, in view of all the warnings about
compromised security and inability to delete.

I would much appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks!
With a database that reproduces the problem, this was easy
to fix (silly mistake introduced months ago, came up due to
    an unrelated change).
The attached pwsafe.zip file (version 2.16) fixes this.

    Many thanks, Rony.

PasswordSafe is a great tool -- big help to me in keeping
    things both organized and protected.

Oops, now getting an error message:

"...failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found."

I replaced the old pwsafe.exe with the new one in the
pwsafe-2.14-bin folder and also dropped in the
pwsafe.exe.sig file. What am I missing?

Ouch. This is because I've upgraded my compiler from VC6 to
VS .Net 2003, and Microsoft, in their infinite wisdom,
changed the DLLs that the app links against...

    Fix is simple. Download
    http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/redist.zip, unzip
contents and place the three DLLs in your
    C:\Windows\system32 directory.

I'm checking out ways to nake this less painful in the next
    release...

That fixed it -- much obliged, Rony.

I too had the problem with 2.14-2.15 not reading a 2.04
database, and your attached 2.16 fixed it. Thanks
