Hi,
I'm using 0.93bea on linux and it appears that keyboard shortcut to close search bar does not quite work properly. I can search inside the database with Ctrl-F and then close the search with Esc. However, if the passwordsafe is minimized with search window open the Esc key does not work after restore. So I need to close the search window with the mouse before Ctrl-F and Esc start working again.

  • I concur, very annoying bug. Is anyone on this one?

I cannot reproduce this anymore (on Ubuntu x86 14.04) with the latest
      sources. Can you guys re-test?

  • It's still there. I'm using the latest version via git on ubuntu 14.10.

I also still see the problem. Just built from git on fedora 21 (running kde desktop if this matters)

I have been trying to repro this with latest sources on two platforms:

      Ubuntu 14.10 (x86, lightdm) in a VM
Ubuntu 14.04 (x86, gdm) in a desktop install

I don’t see a problem with ESC key not being able to close the search bar on Linux, no matter how I try. Do you guys have the keyboard focus in the search bar’s edit control when you press the ESC key?

Can you give me detailed steps to reproduce this, starting from running pwsafe, with each keypress and change of focus that happens on your setup?

FWIW, this IS a problem on OS X, but not on Linux, as far as I can see.

Here is the set of steps
    1. Start pwsafe from command line, enter the database.
    2. Ctrl+F, search bar opens.
    3. Enter search term, press enter, search term is found
    4. Press Esc, search bar closes
    5. Repeat 2 and 3 but now press Alt+F4 to minimize the pwsafe to the taskbar.
    6. Click on the pwsafe icon in the tray. It reopens with the search bar open.
    7. Esc does not work now. I can use the up/down arrows to move in the list, F3 to search again, probably other shortcuts (I think this may be an improvement from the previous mprovement). But I can only close the search box with the mouse and neither Ctrl+F nor Esc work until search box is closed.

Oh, you are closing the window with Alt-F4, not minimizing. I will try that. But before, I have to figure out how to get pwsafe to display the tray icon. I don’t see its icon in the system tray at all, so once I hit Alt-F4, its UI is gone without any way to get it back (but pwsafe is running).

There is a check box in the System tab of the Manage >> Options menu with the text "Put icon in System Tray". I think this is all I had to do on KDE.

That checkbox hasn’t made any difference with Ubuntu 14.* yet.

Just tested -- it requires a restart for me. But of course it could also be the difference between distributions or KDE/Gnome/Unity.

So far I have tried Gnome Flashback (metacity and compiz), just Gnome (probably v3, no top panel/bar at all), Unity, “Ubuntu” and “System Default”. But this machine has been upgraded through many versions. May be I need a clean install of Ubuntu.

      • Maybe you could try xfce?
