I am in the progress of updating the panotools plugins.
I am going to add some of the Anti Aliasing Filters to the selections of
choices for interpolation filters.
I think there are too many to add them all.
/I need some help narrowing down the selection./
I am going to change the radio button choice of interpolations to a drop
down list of just a few but, I don't know what ones I should show.
>From a UI point of view I think it is best to first selecting if they
want to use AA first and then choose a subset from there.
With AA instead of choosing between faster and better is is more a
choice between blurry & aliasing and between smooth & sharp .
If more than two AAsmoother and AAsharper are chosen then probably add a
checkbox and radio buttons as such. If the total is 8 or less then a
single list should be fine.
[X] Use Anti Aliasing
( ) sharper
What two AA smoother and two AA sharper filters should be included? I
wish someone else would run time and quality test on the new filters.
Polynomial 16 Pixels 4x4 1 (base time to process image)
Spline 36 Pixels 6x6 1.44
Spline 64 pixels 8x8 1.85
Sinc 256 pixels 16x16 14.05
Should the choice between smoother and sharper depend on whether an
image is being enlarged or reduced?
NearestNeighbor 1 pixel 1x1 0.82 *1
Spline 16 Pixels 4x4 1.13 *2
Sinc 1024 pixels 32x23 36.82 *3
*1 NearestNeighbor does not have enough speed increase to justify.
*2 Spline 16 less detail than polynomial 16 although smoother but takes
*3 Sinc1024 is overkill for a plugin.
