Go ahead, I would imagine that debian/ubuntu distribution packagers
would use hand-crafted packages anyway.

I'm not sure how to do the .pc file as this is currently templated

We need the correct soname if the intention is to drop the autotools
build system altogether, see the way hugin does the internal
libraries with cmake.

Yes, I get a good signature from your email 4th August, after that
your panotools-devel signatures are corrupted. Your hugin-ptx
signatures are fine.
