I want to use pam_mysql for pop access. Strangely, any
account defined in the mysql database fail to log in
without querying the database. Valid unix user
accounts defined in the /etc/passwd file go a step
further, querying the DB but finding nothing since the
don't hold the same accounts

here's some info:

/etc/pam.d/pop:

auth sufficient pam_mysql.so user=pam
passwd=xxx db=auth table=pop usercolumn=user
passwdcolumn=pass crypt=2

Logs (auth & mysql) for DB accounts:

Login failed user=dbtest auth=dbtest host=hostname [IP]

Logs (auth & mysql) for valid unix user names:

Login failed user=bill auth=bill host=hostname [IP]
011012 17:48:45 26 Connect pam@localhost on
auth
26 Init DB auth
26 Query select user from
pop where user='bill' and pass=PASSWORD('bill')
26 Quit

system is a Debian Linux, and both libpam-mysql.deb &
.tar.gz compiled versions give me the same result
