Hello, I'm a Python neophyte, so my apologies in advance if this question isn't a good fit for this list. I'm tinkering with an application using the Google App Engine, and I have a need for some basic exploratory data analysis graphs such as scatter plots, boxplots and histograms. I ran across the PAIDA project and have downloaded the code; it seems to have everything I need from a functionality perspective, now I'm trying to figure out if I can make it work with the Google App Engine. I need to get the graphical output to a web browser client. As I peruse the source code, it looks like the IPlotter function is where I would need to make modifications in order to construct a graphic image which could be returned to the browser rather than to the standard console window display. Can anyone give me any guidance on how this might be possible? Thanks in advance, Jim |

Hello, Jim. I'm the developer of the PAIDA. There is no description about web browser GUI engine in the online documents, but the PAIDA includes a test engine for it. Download sampleHistogram1D.py from PAIDA website and type >> python sampleHistogram1D.py --gui=firefox and then access to http://localhost:8080/ This engine is not production level, so you will have to modify the source code. The SVN is used for rendering in the web browser and supported by at least Firefox and Safari. Hi Jim, I'm sorry but I don't have the access to the App Engine. So, would you tell me a little more details? Did you have any trouble with running the sample code "sampleHistogram1D.py" ? PAIDA in firefox mode doesn't use local file system, I think. Koji On 2008/07/24, at 14:30, Jim Brown wrote: > Hi Koji, > > I have been looking into the sample code you referenced.
