I'm the WebMaster/Developer/Designer at a public library. Almost 2 years ago we started investigating CMS and none fit the library's needs without a lot of modifications (read this as extra coding and new modules). So it was decided I would learn php, set up an AMP (Apache, MySQL & PHP). About printer friendly links, if you have someone on staff who can modify the CSS pages, you can make all pages "printer friendly" internally and any page should print out "friendly". Andrew, Our library recently started using Mambo Open Source. The verdict is still out on it. But it was very easy to install. Their website is http://www.mamboserver.com. You might also want to check out http://opensourcecms.com. They have many CMS demos installed on their website. You can compare quite a few systems. Is anyone using a CMS for their library website (or any=20 other website) that you can suggest? I am looking for one that has a WYSWYG editor so that our staff can feel very comfortable with using it as well as being able to create dynamic=20 content. My favorite so far is OpenCMS, however it has quite a few short comings=20 such as not being able to have a "printer friendly" link on every page, etc. Thanks in advance Andrew Nagy mfu...@ma... wrote: >CMSWatch.com provides an independent source of information, trends,=20 >opinion, and analysis about Web Content Management (WCM) solutions. > >The June 2004 newsletter includes an item about Open Source Content=20 >Management Systems that may be worth a visit:=20 >http://www.cmswatch.com/AskTony/ > >Mary Fumento >Reference & Web Development Librarian > > > >------------------------------------------------------- >This SF.Net email sponsored by Black Hat Briefings & Training.
