oss4libers interested in implementing a simple, easy to set up OAI harvester/search engine should check out the Public
Knowledge Project Harvester (http://www.pkp.ubc.ca/pkp-harvester/). This application became publicly available a
couple of days ago.
Unlike other search-engine oriented harvesters, this one can be installed and working in minutes, on any platform that
supports my/postgre SQL and PHP4 (I've already installed it on linux and Windows machines). For me what's so exciting
about this harvester is that it's the first one that I've found that actually embodies OAI's "low barrier to
implementation" philosophy (at least in terms of installation and configuration).
