another layer of spam protection, and counting

select a filter (like author, phrase in message, etc)
and autoban it (with a cookie that forbids publishing
or by temporarily banning that IP)

if the spammer/troll is not aware of this trcik, he
will get himself banned without action by the
administrators

this is useful for automated spamming or recurrent
trolls who change IP addresses

also, look at sf-active, it has many nice features that
could be copi^W^W^W^W replicated :)

I started to implement this, see: http://docs.indymedia.org/view/Local/BristolSiteUpgrade2007#2_Banned_User_Names

I'm planning a further update to extend this to match against story or comment subject and body (optional).

Cookie idea is also good and should be added. Ban time should be configurable and count / last trigger date time should be updated against each filter entry to record each time it is activated by a user.

To be used as a last resort but very effective against trolls :)

Banning by author name has been implemented in version 3.1 -Not sure if this covers everything originally suggested
