I am trying to use oprofile 0.9.1 but have problems to
use opannotate --source:
no debug information available for any binary selected and --assembly not requested
Even if I use --assembly I get only some lines
:Disassembly of section .init:
:Disassembly of section .plt:
:Disassembly of section .text:
:Disassembly of section .fini:
but do not any assemly code.
The code that I want to investigate has been compiled with gcc 3.4.2
and I am able debug it with gdb, so I am very sure that the debug
information is available (I also tried several -g variants with gcc).
I did not find any information that says that opannotate has problems
with gcc 3.4.2 generated executables and would be glad if someone
could tell me what I am probably doing wrong.

This sounds like there are some big problems with the binutils you're
