OProfile is a powerful system-wide profiler for Linux.
OProfile 0.5.4 has been released. OProfile is still in alpha,
but has been proven stable for many users.
For 2.2 kernels, the module must be compiled as the same user
that owns the kernel source tree.
nosmp is not supported in kernels before 2.4.10 (bug #463087).
The pre-emptable kernel option is not supported in 2.4 (bug #478516).
Power management on laptops can be incompatible with OProfile in 2.4 (bug #554927).
This is a bug fix only release.
--rtc-value option is disabled if not in RTC mode.
The local APIC is not re-enabled on error path for 2.4 kernels.
We were not handled a truncated tgid properly, this fix is neccesary for proper
operation of oprofile with linux 2.5.71 and above.
Check bitmasks as well as exclusive values, for unit masks.
AMD (x86 and x86-64) enhancements; in particular this adds a new event:
CPU_CLK_UNHALTED for Athlon, and uses it by default.
64-bit fixes in the 2.5 daemon.
A compile fix for gcc 2.95.
