OpenTeddy 3D Modeler / News: Recent posts

OpenTeddy 0.1 for Windows available

A new, more usable version of OpenTeddy has been released. You can see the tutorial for making a simple head at http://openteddy.sourceforge.net/ . The project home page is at https://sourceforge.net/projects/openteddy/ . A linux version will be posted within a week.

OpenTeddy is an easy-to-use freeform sketch-based 3D modeler based on the paper by T. Igarashi et al, "Teddy: A Sketching Interface for 3D Freeform Design." Sketch-based modelers differ from traditional 3D CAD and design tools in that the user creates free-form strokes instead of having to explicitly choose points, edges and faces on a 3D mesh. Sketch-based modeling tools are intended also to be easy and accessible to novices who would normally be too intimidated to use traditional 3D modeling tools.

Downloads not working/propagating

Apparently the downloads are not being transferred properly to the mirror sites (or it takes longer than I anticipated) Until this is corrected, you can still get the OpenTeddy project files at:

OpenTeddy Win32 tech preview

I have released a binary/source preview (that is, the source is still a little messy and needs to be cleaned up before a real source release, and the UI is not complete) of OpenTeddy for Windows.

OpenTeddy Linux tech preview

I have released a binary/source preview (that is, the source is still a little messy and needs to be cleaned up before a real source release, and the UI is not complete) of OpenTeddy for Linux (a Windows version is already ready and will be published within the next few days.)
