Information about upcoming openQRM 5.0

  • Matt

    Hi all,

we would like to provide you with some details about the upcoming openQRM 5.0 release.

First of all, openQRM 5.0 will be a really major release! It includes a full re-construction of the UI leading to a vastly improved user-experience.

Here some details about the enhancements:
    - The Frameset has been replaced by a fully object-oriented Model-View-Controller approach (MVC).
    - The move to MVC also defines an additional Restful API plus the capability for internationalization.
    - Available translations for now: EN/DE, further will follow
    - A snappy, completely new and re-designed openQRM Cloud Portal (available in 6 translations: EN/DE/ES/NL/FR/IT).
    - Support for Postgres Database backend (default: mysql).

This major refactoring of openQRM required us to adapt every openQRM plugin - you can imagine that this took (and still takes) quite some development time, to make sure you'll get the smoothest transition to the best openQRM experience ever.

Current status of the 5.0 release is that there is still a small number of plugins which need to be re-worked. After all plugins have been adapted we will code-freeze for our QA.

The openQRM 5.0 release is scheduled for August 1, 2012.

As with the 4.9 release, all development for the new openQRM version will be sponsored by openQRM Enterprise GmbH.

We would like to thank all users and contributors for their useful feedback, feature requests and bug reports! Keep on helping us to enhance openQRM by telling us your opinion, it is important for us!

Many thanks and have a great day,

    Matt Rechenburg
    Project Manager openQRM
