Hi, I'm trying to make a generic ZIF module to all the modules of the
programmer. I have some ideas but I can't find one that likes me.
The principal idea is to make a module with a 40 pin ZIF socket that you can
fit in every module (existents or new ones) allowing you to use a ZIF socket
in the module you want.
Can you help me to make the module?
Some ideas: we can use a similar sistem as the main board use to fit the
IDEAS ARE WELLCOME!!!

I want a to use a ZIF for all the adapters. So, for example if you want to
program a PIC, you add the ZIF module to the PIC module and you program the
PIC usin the ZIF module, then if you want to program anAtmel, the same thing,
add the ZIF module to the Atmel module and program it usin the ZIF, and so on
for the other modules.
You can do it right now: plug your zif socket on the normal socket.
You just need different sizes: 8 pin for memory, 20-28-40 pin for other devices.
Te principal idea is to use only one ZIF for ALL the modules. ZIF modules are not cheap, so using one zip for each kind of socket is not an option.
Well, you need at least two types because DIP40 has a different width than DIP8-28.
Anyways, no problem to use a 28 pin zif on a smaller socket; just see if there is enough clearance between the adjacent sockets and modify the pcb accordingly.

in the picture you can see ZIF soket for SO 8-16 pin and olsa ZIF soket for SO 18-28 pin by HOME-MADE from an conector from an old PC mother-board.

one ZIF soket can use in all position for I2C; SPI and uW . I use euro-32 connector because is very good .
also the 28 DIP ZIF and 40 DIP ZIF can move from main PCB for 28 and 40 PIC with 5V Vdd to PCB with 3V3 Vdd or to Atmel PCB
