    Hello,

    I have a Motorola VU204 phone from Verizon.  It's not on the list, but obexftp can download pictures via bluetooth (they are in a directory called 10888).  However, I don't see a way to back up my phonebook, which doesn't appear in any directory listings.  I think it might be possible to do because sdptool lists:

    Service Name: OBEX Phonebook Access Server
    Service RecHandle: 0x10006
    Service Class ID List:
      "Phonebook Access - PSE" (0x112f)
    Protocol Descriptor List:
      "L2CAP" (0x0100)
      "RFCOMM" (0x0003)
        Channel: 19
      "OBEX" (0x0008)
    Language Base Attr List:
      code_ISO639: 0x656e
      encoding:    0x6a
      base_offset: 0x100
    Profile Descriptor List:
      "Phonebook Access" (0x1130)
        Version: 0x0100

    Any suggestions for what I could try?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for your quick response.  I've now tried
    /usr/local/bin/obexftp -b 00:23:AF:9E:C2:4F -U SYNCH -g telecom/devinfo.txt
    and got the result

    Using SYNCH uuid.
    Browsing 00:23:AF:9E:C2:4F …
    Connecting…failed: send UUID
    Tried to connect for 627ms
    error on connect(): Success
    Still trying to connect
    Connecting…failed: send UUID
    Tried to connect for 3ms
    error on connect(): Success
    Still trying to connect
    Connecting…failed: send UUID

    Still trying to connect

    Similar for telecom/pb/info.log.  Is that what you meant for me to do?

  • Yes, that is the right command. The phone seems to reject the Sync UUID, though ("Connecting…failed: send UUID"). Most likely the device does not support IrMC-Sync.

    Any other ideas for how to get at the phonebook access service that sdptool reports is there?

  • You could use AT-style commands. There is that awesome "gsmlib" package.

    The gsmlib web page says my computer would have to have a gsm modem, even supposing the phone conforms to gsm standards.  Is there a way of trying AT-style commands with openobex?
