Hi to all on this list, here is a quick overview about the openMosix Workshop in Bologna yesterday (28. Nov). First of all it was a really smart event with about 150 openMosix users from Italy perfectly organized by Stefano Cozzini and Stefano Martinelli at CINECA. At 9.30 the introduction from Stefano Cozzini started, followed by a powerfull and impressive speech from Moshe Bar. He gave a great and detailed introduction about the openMosix project and its community. Applause. Then there was a speech from L. Genoni about "Linux as a clustering OS" which described the advantages of linux-clusters compared to other OS'es. Applause again. After the coffee-break the kernel developer Andrea Arcangeli gave a very interesting and technical overview about his aa-kernel-tree, and the features and diffrences compared to the other main-kernel trees. Applause. After the lunchbreak it was a pleasure for me to gave a short explanation about the openMosixview project (thanks for this possibility) followed by the "Italien experiences with openMosix". It was very interesting to hear how openMosix is used in Italy. There were projects about backup-solution with openMosix, discussions about feature-requests, stories of success and how openMosix is used at CINECA and DEMOCRITOS. Great. There was also the time for "getting answers" from the speakers directly which was heavily used during the breaks. For demonstration purpose there was a 4 node SMP cluster from AMD which installed and ran fine (there was just not the time for demonstrations because of the many interesting speeches) Special thanks to Stefano Cozzini and Stefano Martinelli for this nice event.. Also thanks to the sponsors CINECA, DEMOCRITOS, Qlusters, AMD and to the speakers Moshe Bar, L. Genoni, Andrea Arcangeli and the italian-openMosix user group and everybody who joined this italian-openMosix day. (hope not to forgot somebody) It was a very good experience and a nice time during the workshop. many greets, Matt .........happy to got one of those famous openMosix T-shirts which were sold at the workshop. -- E-mail : mos...@t-... www : http://www.openmosixview.com an openMosix-cluster management GUI I don't make my mistakes more than once. I store them carefully and after some time I take them out again, add some new features and _reuse_ them. |
