#1760 Unknown Board casues openhpid to fail discovery

No

Board 11 in the HP BladeSystem chassis had all data in OA as [unknown]. This caused openhpid to complain about an unknown board type and causes complete discovery failure such that no hardware in the chassis can be managed at all.

openhpid should generate error and ignore the board if it doesn\'t know what it is. This is better than complete discovery failure.

    Rick,
We are working on this issue. Could you tell us what the blade at slot 11 is, even though OA says it is Unknown? Its model, Manufacturer, Serial Number, Part Number and Spare part number?

We need to look at what kind of events this blade would generate and see how to handle them if we receive it from OA.

Also, once the patch is ready, we need help in testing it.

    Thanks
    Mohan

If OA is unable to recognise a blade then it is better to stop the discovery till the hardware problem is fixed. Ignoring the blade may be problematic as the unknown blade will send many events which OpenHPI will find it hard to handle.
This will be fixed with a fix to the messages to identify the slot number.
