Chuck, You could try: gdalwarp in.kap out.tif -co INTERLEAVE=PIXEL The BSB files are generally represented as having ground control points. These will be transferred to the TIFF file, but ArcExplorer doesn't know what to do with them. If you use gdalwarp, you can rectify the file on the file. The INTERLEAVE option is necessary to make the TIFF file work with arcexplorer in some cases. It may not matter for a 1 band file.
