I am trying an OC 1.1 installation in Windows 7 under a mingw environment. The pkgs versions are:

mingw-get-inst-20120426
gmp 5.0.5
pdcurses 3.4
Berkeley DB 5.3.21
opencobol 1.1

Everything is installed properly except opencobol itself. I followed instructions from:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/59xp85ud548si9k/OpenCOBOL-1.1-06FEB2009-Programmers-Guide.pdf

./configure doesn't finish. The last two msgs are:

checking for BDB db.h version >= 4.1 ... yes (5.3)
configure: error: Include file db.h implies version >=4.1 but no library found

PATH has .:/usr/local/bin:/mingw/bin:/bin:

any input on this is greatly appreciated. TIA.

    configure tries to find the library-file (via gcc, to be correct), not the binary library. Therefore you have to look at LD_LIBRARY_PATH and most likely have to tweak it.
    Depending on your environment this may could be:

    # export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib

    or maybe

    # export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/bdb/lib

    As configure only uses gcc to link against BDB and gcc is not able to find the library (because there isn't a libdb in LD_LIBRARY_PATH) this is surely not a bug.

    Therefore I'm closing this ticket.
