Opal 2.5 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.5 of the Opal Toolkit.

New features in the 2.5 release of Opal include:

  • New service deployment model based on dropping appConfig files in
    opal.deploy.path (no more ant command to deploy services)
  • Support for tomcat 7.X, and tomcat 6.X
  • Cleaner logging with few messages to the default level
  • Improved Usage Statistics page layout
  • Improvements to Condor job manager
  • Extra config parameters for PBS job manager

Opal 2.4 Release

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.4 of the Opal Toolkit.

New features in the 2.4 release of Opal include:
- Additional operation added to Opal WSDL and AppService implementation to get system information (number of jobs running/queued, job manager type, data lifetime, etc)
- Updated database schema to support ACTIVE/INACTIVE service status, which will be used while plotting usage information. Inactive services will not be plotted. This feature is not available for HSQL DB
- Ability to set the DRMAA queue in the opal.properties, and override it in the application configuration
- A set of absolute paths now accessible to applications via the opal.properties. In the past applications only had access to the Opal working directory
- Support for recursive listing of output directories for the getOutputs() operation
- A MetaService job manager for submission of jobs to other Opal servers... read more

Opal 2.3.1 Release

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.3.1 of the Opal Toolkit. Version 2.3.1 is a bug fix release, and addresses some issues with version 2.3.

Bug fixes include:
- Uploading of files in for non-mutually exclusive groups on the auto-generated forms
- Ability to copy attachments across different partitions

Opal 2.3 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.3 of the Opal Toolkit.

New features in the 2.3 release of Opal include:
- Direct support for TORQUE/PBS without the need for DRMAA or Globus
- Limits for the Fork job manager for the number of jobs that can be executed concurrently
- Support for upload of tarballs and zip files for inputs, which can be expanded on the server side
- Support for user email as an optional argument for job tracking
- Simplification of the input forms with the removal of number of CPUs for non-parallel jobs
- Support for the dynamic addition of multiple file uploads on simple form
- Modification of jobID to include service name

Opal-py 2.2 Released

Opal-py version version 2.2 corresponds to the latest release of the Java core.

It includes a Generic Python client that supports the same functionality as the corresponding Java client, and updated documentation.

Opal 2.2 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.2 of the Opal Toolkit. This release improves version 2.1 in the following ways:

- Optional auto-generation of service specific WSDLs, based on user-specified application metadata. This update has been contributed by Anthony Bretaudeau from the GenOuest team at IRISA, France
- Support for the DB2 database for state monitoring, in addition to the support for MySQL and PostgreSQL provided in the past
- Use of MIME attachments in the Opal dashboard, which leads to better performance and support for larger file uploads
- Basic support for Per-IP limits on number of jobs per hour, to stop server overloading
- Upgrade of the DRMAA jar to version 6.1... read more

Opal 2.1 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of version 2.1 of the Opal Toolkit. This release includes the following updates:

- Improved Ajax-based dashboard that enables searching applications by their metadata
- Use of C3P0 for providing production-level connection pooling for state management, and addition of support for MySQL database back-end (contributed by Anthony Bretaudeau)
- Addition of two new job managers - for Condor and the Community Scheduler Framework (CSF4)
- Updated user guide consistent with all new features
- Bug fixes include removal of hard-coding of opal url in the dashboard code, and fixing the default HSQL configuration to write data to within the opal2 webapp... read more

Opal-py 2.0.0 released

Opal-py 2.0.0 includes support for the new Opal-core 2.0 features (e.g. input file with SOAP attachment and getJobStatistics client call) and extended documentation with developer guide.

Opal Java Core 2.0.0 Official Release

We are pleased to announce the availability of the official release of Opal Version 2.0 with updated documentation. Opal2 is a complete redesign of Opal 1.x with many new features:

* New resource managers can now easily be added using a plug-in based model

Opal Python 1.9.3 Released

Version 1.9.3 of the Opal Python libraries are now available from the download page.
The key difference from version 1.9.2 is that this release depends on ZSI 2.1_a1, which is not dependent on the outdated PyXML package.

Opal Toolkit - version 1.9.2 released!

We are pleased to announce the latest release of the Opal Toolkit - version 1.9.2. This includes the server and client packages for Java, and client packages for Python and Perl. Version 1.9.2 builds upon the earlier 1.9alpha release with bug fixes and improved features.
