I'm posting this in case everyone on this list hasn't seen this post
from comp.lang.rexx. My guess is the (IBM) Object Rexx Workbench makes
use of some undocumented APIs that are now gone in 4.0.0. Any ideas on
how we should answer this?

I like Rexx a lot have been using it for many years. However, as a
developer I am also dependent on a professional debugging environment.
Up till ooRexx 4.0 I have been successfully using the Object Rexx
Workbench 2.1.3 (with the partial exception of BSF4Rexx) as a
development and debugging platform. However, version 4.0 breaks this
The ability to step through code with variables watches, etc. is IMO
essential to productively develop systems. I assume that others have
a similar opinion.
I definitely cannot afford to move to ooRexx 4.0 before a competent
debugging environment is supported. Clearly I'd prefer Eclipse because
of its excellent multi-threading support but even support of the old
Workbench is worlds better than nothing.
I know that the ooRexx development team has very limited resources.
But having a competent debugging environment should be at the top of
the list. TRACE doesn't quite cut it...
What are the future plans on this front?
