Hi there, for those of you who use the "vim" (vi improved) editor (available for all operating systems, cf. <http://www.vim.org>) there are updated definition files available which syntax highlight all the new ooRexx 3.2 features accordingly. Here's the URL: <http://wi.wu-wien.ac.at/rgf/rexx/misc/vim/>. Directions: * filetype.vim ... this file resides in the "vim7x/" homedirectory and contains the definitions of which filetypes should be edited with the Rexx syntax highlighting * rexx.vim ... this file resides in the "vim7x/syntax/" directory and defines the Rexx/ooRexx syntax highlighting rules * html.vim ... this file resides in the "vim7x/syntax/" directory and defines the script tag in HTML files such that Rexx code embedded into HTML will get the Rexx syntax highlighting "vim" is free, hence great for many people, especially students, and also it is a very powerful editor, although with a steep learning curve for people unfamiliar with "vi" or other Unix editors. (If unacquainted with vim, then by all means first run the "vim" tutorial, otherwise you may get lost in the beginning!) It allows for creating HTML- and XML-renderings which contain the syntax highlighting and therefore can be used to get syntax-colorized figures for articles and tutorials. If you find any errors or problems, please communicate. The official maintainer of "rexx.vim" will further test it and if everything is well, he will forward this version to the vim maintainers for inclusion into their next build. ---rony |
