In the "MISC" preferences tab I enabled the following options: "File Status Auto-Detection", "Update Silently", "Scroll to Last Line ...".

Then I open a log file with Notepad++. Even though the log file gets updated continuously, Notepad++ reacts only to the first change in the file. Further changes to the file are missed out and Notepad++ does not show the file changes automatically. I would expect that the editor shows new log lines automatically at most a few seconds after those changes were appended to the log file. For that notepad++ should poll the file every few seconds.

I'm using Notepad++ 5.6.3 on Windows XP.
