I am using the following tools:
Notepad++ v6.5.4 (UNICODE)
Auto Save by Franco Stellari (plug in) v1.40 (build 2012-12-11)
and working on some html files in a folder inside my Google Drive.
All the files keep being duplicated with another file of the same name, except with a tilde (~) appended to the end, for example:
I was wondering if it was Notepad++, Auto Save plug in, or Google Drive doing that? I searched a bit but couldn't come up with anything. Any ideas?
Why don't you try disabling Notepad++'s backups or the Auto Save plugin or try a different folder outside of your Google Drive? Shouldn't be too hard to figure out pretty quickly.
I have tried all variations of Notepad++ itself and the Auto Save plug in on one computer, and could not reproduce the behavior.
Looking at the ~ files, it seems as if they are previous versions of files I had edited at some point. I am starting to think it may be from Google Drive synchronization conflicts across multiple computers, when some of those computers may have been offline. I will test that theory some more later and report back.
