I was searching both Google and this forum but I was not able to find an answer.
When I open the 'Find' (Ctrl+F) or 'Replace' (Ctrl+H) dialog box, it automatically puts the word under cursor to the 'Find what:' text field and replaces the previous string in this field.
Is there a way to configure 'Find'/'Replace' to a behavior that it will keep in the 'Find what:' field the last string I was searching for?
Actually I need it more for the 'Replace' than for find as F3 can be used for searching the same word/expression after the dialog box is closed.
While I understand this might be convenient for programming purposes, it does not fit me as I use it to modify larger texts (for example I use to replace all new lines with space (\r\n -> ' '), etc.) and I need to repeat some modifications.
I also found some threads here in the forum which requested this behavior (approx from year 2006).

Pressing the up arrow will change the current text to the previous item. So it is a simple workaround. The only drawback I can think of is it evicting items too early from the history list. But you can always increase its size (please check a recent thread in Open discussion forum about this- the size can be adjusted in config.xml).
