    This missing feature is still a big pain, and it would seem like a pretty trivial task to add EUC-JP to the encoding possibilities, given that EUC-KR is already there.

    Of course it would be even cooler if the encoding selector would be a window like in EditPad, with an instant preview…

    In the meantime I came up with this Python Script (to be used with the Python Script plugin) to reload the current file and convert it from EUC-JP to UTF-8 on the fly:

    import codecs

    fn = notepad.getCurrentFilename()
    f = codecs.open(fn, 'r', 'euc-jp')
    text = f.read()
    text = codecs.encode(text, 'utf-8')
    editor.setText('')
    notepad.menuCommand(MENUCOMMAND.FORMAT_UTF_8)
    editor.setText (text)

    For post #7:
    It is probably easier to use the UniversalIndentUGui plugin to reformat after the fact.

    For post #6:
    Simply assign the commands you need to keyboard shortcuts, and then assign a macro to those plus save file.

    Post #3:
    I use the much more flexible FileMatrix http://www.gardenerofthoughts.org/ideas/filematrix/index.htm for this purpose. It s shareware but the unregistered version is good enough.

    Notepad++ in Linux would be a complete rewrite port. No one has dared yet, as he application is native Win32 code.
