On Japanese Windows 7 64-bit (Home Premium SP1), N++ 6.3.3 always crashes immediately upon opening. See the original troubleshooting discussion here: http://portableapps.com/node/37203 It has nothing to do with PortableApps - in both the PA wrapped version and the regular one, 6.3.3 always crashes and 6.3.2 is fine. I tested the exact same copy of the program (from http://download.tuxfamily.org/notepadplus/6.3.3/npp.6.3.3.bin.zip) on four computers: it ran on English Windows 7 and Japanese Windows XP (32-bit SP3), but failed on two Japanese Windows 7 computers. A screen capture of the message is attached - although it's Japanese, it's the standard message that comes up when a program crashes: "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." At someone's suggestion, I tried deleting the Hunspell directory, but that had no effect on the problem.

Feel free to contact me if you want me to test a possible fix.

(Sorry, I don't understand the "Milestone" and "Labels" fields on this form - please set them to whatever is appropriate.)

Just to make sure. Have you tried removing DSpellCheck.dll from plugins directory and then try to run a program?

Good call! The person helping me on the other forum told me to remove the Hunspell directory (the dictionary, apparently), but didn't mention the dll. Yes, without that dll it runs.

I personally don't care about a spell checker, because I use N++ for code, not documents, but many other programs have English spell checkers that run fine on my machine. Anyway, if it's going to remain this way, you may want to have your installer attempt to detect the OS language and omit the spell checker when necessary.

I would highly appreciate it if you could check out if this crash is still happening if you replace DSpellCheck.dll with this one:https://dl.dropbox.com/s/0l6m07h8b37ssap/DSpellCheck.dll

Sorry I didn't get back to this quicker - I was busy with other things in my life. Anyway, yes, the DLL you posted works! Not only does it not crash, but when I typed a sentence with a misspelled word it was underlined, so the spell checker is even running okay.

Thank you very much! I promise that in next Notepad++ version plugin would be updated and will be working fine, deeply sorry for this issue. Have a good day.
